Pain or discomfort in your foot effects your general mobility and balance. You may have pain or discomfort in the heel, arch, instep, toes, or insole of the foot. At Blackwood Physio we treat the musculoskeletal conditions associated with a range of related foot problems.

What causes Foot pain?

Foot discomfort is quite common, but the reasons why varies because of a number of factors.  Older people tend to have trouble that is related to changes occurring in the foot joints and surrounding soft tissue. Younger people with foot issues can often be attributed to an injury or accident, or from a repeated activity that caused an overload.

The foot is designed to absorb the forces of standing, running and walking. It transmits these forces through the ankle to the legs. The foot contains bones (26),  joints (33) and ligaments (100+) as well as muscles, tendons and nerves, all of of which are capable of causing discomfort and trouble.

Thankfully, research has shown that physiotherapy can be effective in the management of pain. Treatment aims to get you back to doing the activities you enjoy.
